Archipelago Hand Carved Bird Shearwater Wooden Sculpture is a tall open winged large sculpture with a large wingspan and a slightly turned down beak, the grace of the Shearwater seabird is captured beautifully as you can imagine it flying out over open waters only coming into the shores occasionally spending time mostly travelling the oceans.
Shearwaters are medium-sized long-winged seabirds. These birds are more common in temperate and cold waters.

Archipelago Handcrafted Wooden Bird Sculpture Plover Post is hand carved, fairly traded, painted using lead free paint. The Archipelago Plover Post Bird Wooden Sculpture will make a lovely gift for anyone that loves being near the seaside or has a coastal theme or holiday home.
The Plover is a small, dumpy, short-legged wading bird. It is brownish grey above and whitish below. It has an orange bill, tipped with black, orange legs and a black and white pattern on it’s head and breast. In flight it shows a broad white wing-stripe. Breeds on beaches around the coast, but has also now breeding inland in sand and gravel pits and former industrial sites. Many UK birds live here all year round, but birds from Europe winter in Britain and birds from Greenland and Canada pass through on migration.

Kestrels are most easily distinguished by their typical hunting behaviour which is to hover at a height of around 10-20 metres (35-65ft) over open country and swoop down on it’s prey, usually small mammals, lizards or large insects. Kestrels are notable for usually having mostly brown in their plumage.

Godwits are a group of large, long-legged and strongly migratory waders. The long bills of the Bird Sculpture Godwit Block allow them to probe deeply in the sand for aquatic worms and molluscs. They frequent tidal shorelines, breeding in northern climates in summer and migrating south in winter. In their winter range, they flock together where food is plentiful. A female bar-tailed godwit holds the record for the longest non-stop flight for a land bird.

A truly beautiful bird the Archipelago Avocet Fishing Bird Wooden Sculpture on log with fish will make a charming gift and possibly addition to other Archipelago birds you may have collected. Archipelago Avocet Fishing Bird are distinctively-patterned black and white waders with a long up-curved beak. It is the emblem of the RSPB and symbolizes the bird protection movement in the UK more than any other species. It’s return in the 1940’s and subsequent increase in numbers represents one of the most successful conservation and protection projects. On a lovely piece of driftwood this is a real characterful wooden sculpture.
