Barlow Tyrie only manufacture furniture of the highest quality, achieved by combining the best materials with our many years of experience. Our range of furniture includes many pieces that have won design awards and are frequently copied classics.
- We make our teak furniture from the top grade of plantation grown teak (tectona grandis) sourced from Indonesia. We combine the teak with fittings made from marine-quality solid brass or stainless steel.
- We make our stainless steel furniture from two grades of stainless steel; 316 grade, known as ‘marine grade’ due to its common usage in coastal environments, and 304 grade, which is more commonly used inland. Both grades make for excellent quality garden furniture.
- The powder coated aluminium furniture we manufacture is created from ‘Virgin Aluminium’, so-called because it has not previously been recycled. This makes the furniture even stronger and longer lasting.
- For our woven furniture, we use the finest synthetic material, which is woven by hand over powder coated aluminium frames. This combination creates a piece of furniture that is strong, colour-fast and resistant to sun and rain.
- For chairs that require a fabric sling, such as the Horizon Stacking Armchair, the sling is made from Textilene ® which is woven from a PVC coated polyester, non-stretch yarn resulting in a product that is very strong, colour-fast and resistant to sun and rain. Similarly, our cushions are made from Sunbrella fabric; a 100% solution dyed acrylic fibre that is colour fast and resistant to mildew.
Vincent Sheppard Lloyd Loom
Vincent Sheppard’s new Outdoor rattan Collection now also enables you to enjoy traditional Lloyd Loom seating comfort on your terrace, round the pool or on the balcony. To make the Lloyd Loom chairs resistant to moisture and damp, they are first dipped in a bath of latex. This protective layer is then baked on in a kiln. Finally, the chairs are given a finishing coat of moisture resistant lacquer in the colour of the customer’s choice. The hand welded aluminium frames make Vincent Sheppard outdoor chairs particularly sturdy and ultra lightweight, which also means they are extremely easy to handle. They will stand up to anything the weather and wind can throw at them during the summer months. To enable you to extend the life of your outdoor collection for as long as possible, we recommend that you bring the chairs indoor during the cold, damp winter months.

Our vision is to create furniture that is ensured a long lifespan by virtue of its aesthetic and functional qualities. That is how we define sustainability. That things are made to last. That they age well and accumulate stories. Because in our world, good stories and relationships are what matters most, and we strive to design furniture that facilitates memorable meetings between people.
At Skagerak, we set the bar high in our effort to develop furniture that will be as relevant in twenty years’ time as it is today, living side by side with our classics. Products characterised by craftsmanship, environmental sustainability and warm and inviting aesthetic qualities. Products that appeal to people of all ages and bring beauty into your everyday life.
Skagerak is a responsible company. We stand for responsible production, transparent working relations and good working conditions. We support and adhere to the United Nations’ ten principles for CSR and only use legally sourced timber. Our products fall into three categories: Indoor, Outdoor and Accessories, and we export to forty countries. We are proud of that achievement and attribute it to our efforts to create functional quality furniture for real life.
We first started making furniture over fifty years ago in West Africa. Firstly just for local market consumption but then, when we realized we were actually quite good at it, for export to Europe.
From the start we were always both environmentally and ethically aware – we even used the discarded branches and tree stumps, which would otherwise have been burnt, to make the smaller components.
In 1981, we started the Gloster brand. From quite humble roots, we were soon exporting our furniture all around the world. After transferring our African factory’s expertise to Asia so that we could have access to the plantation grown teak that was only available in Indonesia, Gloster grew to be the principle high end worldwide brand for teak outdoor furniture over the 80s and 90s.
Now, more than fifty years since we started, we are worldwide leaders in teak, woven, aluminium, stainless steel and now outdoor lounge furniture.
Oxley’s have been producing the finest quality cast aluminium and fabricated aluminium furniture in our Cotswold factory for 20 years.. At a time when very little is made to last we were determined to do something different and make products that would outlast their owners. We started by re-launching traditional English furniture designs from the 18th Century but have since introduced more and more contemporary designs to broaden our range. We are very proud that our furniture sells all over the world.
Since we began hand manufacturing, the fashion in garden furniture has gone through plastic, through teak and into plastic weave furniture and latterly a combination of many different materials including stainless steel. We have determinedly continued to use only the highest specification aluminium. Quite simply it is the best material available for our purpose – making maintenance free all weather furniture to last generations.
The advantages of Oxley’s aluminium furniture are simple: by using only the best production techniques and raw materials our furniture is guaranteed to be rust-proof, rot-proof and frost-proof. It needs no maintenance and may be left outdoors permanently without the need to cover or store at any time.
Furthermore, all Oxley’s furniture is made as a single, solid piece – there are no nuts, bolts or fixings used in the construction because we meticulously hand weld each separate section together. As Oxley’s ensure that only traditional casting techniques are used to create the individual component sections, the strength, stability and longevity of our furniture is unrivalled. All Oxley’s designs are also backed by a comprehensive product warranty, testament to our many years’ manufacturing experience. We strongly believe that any investment in Oxley’s furniture is an investment in furniture for life.
Made to order in a choice of 16 colours, our furniture is available in 8 design styles, most classic but some contemporary. It is the best Garden furniture available and you will never regret your investment in Oxley’s.
